Jonathan Samuel Carroll (born January 26, 1949) is an American author of magic realism, slipstream, and contemporary fantasy novels, best known for works like The Land of Laughs (1980), Bones of the Moon (1987), Outside the Dog Museum (1991, British Fantasy Award winner), and Sleeping in Flame (1988). He has received the World Fantasy Award for his short story "Friend's Best Man," the Bram Stoker Award for The Panic Hand, the French Grand Prix de l'Imaginaire, and a Pushcart Prize selection, among numerous nominations for major genre awards.
