Rosalind Loveday Belben (born 1941) is an English novelist from Dorset, educated in Devon, and daughter of a naval commander. She began her career in theatre aspiring to write plays before turning to fiction, with a nomadic life influencing her work; notable books include The Limit (1974), Dreaming of Dead People (1979, autofiction), Hound Music (2001), and Our Horses in Egypt (2007, James Tait Black Award winner). A Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature, she is praised as an elegant stylist experimenting with form.
