Louis SheafferAmerican
Louis Sheaffer (1912–1993) was an American journalist and biographer best known for his two-volume biography of playwright Eugene O'Neill: O'Neill: Son and Playwright (1968) and O'Neill: Son and Artist (1973), the latter winning the 1974 Pulitzer Prize for Biography or Autobiography. A former drama and film critic for the Brooklyn Eagle, he received three Guggenheim Fellowships and numerous MacDowell Colony residencies for his extensive research on O'Neill.
