About the Author
Paul GuestAmerican
Paul Guest is an American poet and memoirist born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, who became a quadriplegic at age twelve following a bicycle accident that broke his neck and bruised his spinal cord. He earned a BA from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and an MFA from Southern Illinois University in 1999, and teaches creative writing at the University of Virginia. Guest has authored several poetry collections including The Resurrection of the Body and the Ruin of the World (2003) and Because Everything Is Terrible (2018), along with the memoir One More Theory About Happiness (2010), and has received a Guggenheim Fellowship, Whiting Award, and other honors.
