Hiroki Takahashi is a Japanese novelist born on December 8, 1979, in Towada, Aomori Prefecture, who debuted in 2014 with Finger Bone, winning the Shincho Newcomer Award; his works, often exploring war and rural violence, include Morning Glory Day, Swimming School, Sunday People (Noma Literary Newcomer Award 2017), and his first full-length novel When the Music Stops.
