Vincenzo ConsoloItalian
Vincenzo Consolo (1933-2012) was an Italian writer born in Sant'Agata di Militello, Sicily. He debuted in 1963 with La ferita dell'aprile and gained acclaim with the 1976 historical novel Il sorriso dell'ignoto marinaio, followed by award-winning works like Nottetempo, casa per casa (Strega Prize 1992). Known for his baroque style and focus on Sicilian history, he worked as a journalist in Milan after moving there in 1969.
