About This Book
Travis Alabanza's memoir and cultural essay interrogates the gender binary and the violence it enforces, drawing on their own experience as a non-binary performer and the 2018 incident in which a burger was thrown at them on Waterloo Bridge. Written in Alabanza's signature conversational and searching voice, the book won the Jhalak Prize in 2023.
About the Author
Travis Alabanza is a British writer, performer, and theatre-maker born in 1994 in Bristol. They studied drama at Goldsmiths and have performed and made theatre across the UK and internationally. They are known for their live show Burgerz (2018), about the 2018 incident on Waterloo Bridge in which a burger was thrown at them, which toured internationally. Read more →
