Peter Spier (1927-2017) was a Dutch-American children's author and illustrator renowned for his detailed watercolor illustrations in over 30 books, including the Caldecott Medal-winning Noah's Ark (1977), Caldecott Honor book The Fox Went Out on a Chilly Night (1961), and People (1980), which earned a Christopher Award.
