About the Author
Domenico ReaItalian
Domenico Rea (1921–1994) was an Italian writer and journalist born in Naples, renowned for his neorealist short stories depicting everyday life in southern Italy, such as Spaccanapoli (1947) and Gesù, fate luce (1951, Viareggio Prize winner). His late novel Ninfa plebea (1992) won the prestigious Strega Prize and was adapted into a film by Lina Wertmüller.
