About the Authors

Intan Paramaditha is an Indonesian author and academic whose fiction often sits at the intersection of gender, folklore, and politics. She holds a PhD from New York University and teaches at Macquarie University in Sydney. The Wandering received the English PEN Translates Award. Read more →

Stephen Epstein is a translator of Indonesian and Korean literature and a scholar of Asian studies at Victoria University of Wellington. He translated Intan Paramaditha's The Wandering and, with Tiffany Tsao, Night of a Thousand Hells, longlisted for the 2026 National Book Award for Translated Literature.
