Mortal y rosa

Francisco Alejandro Pérez Martínez (1932–2007), better known as Francisco Umbral, was a Spanish journalist, novelist, biographer, and essayist born in Madrid but raised in Valladolid. He began his career under Miguel Delibes at El Norte de Castilla, moved to Madrid in 1961, and became renowned for his lyrical, controversial columns in El País and El Mundo, as well as novels blending autobiography and satire, notably after the death of his son inspiring his most personal work Mortal y rosa. A prolific writer with over 80 books, he received major awards including the Premio Nadal, Prince of Asturias Award for Letters, and Cervantes Prize.Goodreads
