John BuchanScottish

John Buchan (1875-1940), a Scottish novelist, historian, and statesman, is best known for his adventure thriller The Thirty-Nine Steps and other Richard Hannay novels like Greenmantle, alongside works such as Prester John. A prolific author of over 100 books, he won the James Tait Black Memorial Prize for his biography of Montrose and founded the Governor General's Literary Awards while serving as Governor General of Canada.
