José María Sánchez-SilvaSpanish
José María Sánchez-Silva y García-Morales (1911–2002) was a Spanish writer renowned for his contributions to children's literature. Born in Madrid, he overcame a challenging early life in orphanages and became a journalist before achieving fame with his novel Marcelino pan y vino (1953), which was adapted into the internationally successful film Miracle of Marcelino. He received the Hans Christian Andersen Medal in 1968, the only Spanish writer to do so, along with Spain's National Literature Prize in 1957. Read more →
