Michael Thomas is an American author born August 21, 1967, in Boston, Massachusetts, best known for his debut novel Man Gone Down (2007), which won the 2009 International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award (€100,000 prize) and was named a New York Times Top Ten Book of the Year. His other notable works include the memoir The Broken King (2025), exploring generations of Black American men, trauma, and alcoholism.
