Maikäfer, flieg!

Christine Nöstlinger (1936-2018) was an Austrian writer renowned for her children's literature, publishing over 150 books that addressed themes like race, gender, and social issues with humor and an anti-authoritarian perspective. Born in Vienna, she transitioned from graphic arts to writing after her first illustrated book, Die feuerrote Friederike (1970), and received major awards including the Hans Christian Andersen Medal (1984) and Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award (2003).
