Carol Beckwith (born 1945) is an American photographer, author, and artist renowned for her photojournalism documenting African tribal cultures, most notably through collaborations including the seminal book Maasai (1980) with Maasai warrior and author Tepilit Ole Saitoti (born 1949), a Tanzanian Maasai who also penned the autobiography The Worlds of a Maasai Warrior (1986); together with Angela Fisher, Beckwith has produced 14 books featured in National Geographic and others, earning awards like the United Nations Award for Excellence, Royal Geographical Society's Cherry Kearton Medal, and two Anisfield-Wolf Book Awards.
