About the Author
Pierre Jean LaunayFrench
Pierre Jean Launay (1900-1982) was a French journalist and novelist born in Carrouges, Normandy. He began his career at Havas agency in 1922 and later worked at Paris-Soir, rising to editor-in-chief roles, before transitioning to writing novels in 1937. His breakthrough novel Léonie la bienheureuse (1938) won the Prix Renaudot and Prix des Deux Magots; he also served as literary director at Elle magazine until 1968. Read more →
