L'isola di Arturo

Elsa Morante (1912-1985) was an Italian novelist, poet, and translator whose debut novel Menzogna e sortilegio (1948; House of Liars) won the Viareggio Prize and whose L'isola di Arturo (1957; Arturo's Island) earned the Strega Prize. Her epic La storia (1974; History), a bestseller depicting life in wartime Rome, was included in the Bokklubben World Library's 100 Best Books of All Time.Elsa Morante
