About This Book

On a February night in 1862, President Lincoln visits the cemetery where his eleven-year-old son Willie has just been buried. In the graveyard's bardo—the liminal state between death and whatever lies beyond—Willie's spirit, along with a cast of eccentric ghostly characters, tries to understand what has happened and whether the boy will cross over or remain.
