About the Author

Jean Joubert (1928-2015) was a French poet, novelist, short story writer, and prolific author of children's literature, best known for his lyrical poetry and novels exploring themes of childhood, nature, and transformation, such as L'Homme de sable (Prix Renaudot 1975) and Poems: 1955-1975 (Prix Mallarmé 1978). Born in Châlette-sur-Loing, he taught American literature at Université Paul Valéry in Montpellier and founded the region's first Maison de la poésie.
