Francis Ambrière (1907–1998), born Charles Letellier in Paris, was a French novelist and man of letters best known for his Prix Goncourt-winning novel Les Grandes Vacances (1946), which recounts the experiences of French POWs during World War II and was awarded retrospectively for 1940. He also authored notable works on theater history such as Le Siècle des Valmore (Prix Chateaubriand 1987) and Mademoiselle Mars et Marie Dorval (Prix Roland-de-Jouvenel 1993), served as editor of Hachette's Guide bleu series from 1945 to 1972, and received additional honors including Prix Premier-Empire.
