Les Fous de Bassan

Anne Hébert (1916–2000) was a Canadian poet, novelist, and playwright renowned for her evocative explorations of alienation, violence, and Quebec's cultural psyche, with notable works including Kamouraska (1970), Les fous de Bassan (1982), and Les chambres de bois (1958). She won three Governor General's Awards (1960 for poetry, 1975 and 1992 for fiction), the Prix Femina (1982), and other honors like the Prix David and Molson Prize, establishing her as a pivotal figure in French-Canadian literature.
