L'Empreinte de Dieu

Maxence Van der Meersch (1907–1951) was a French novelist renowned for his realist depictions of working-class life in the Nord region, particularly Roubaix. His most notable works include L'Empreinte du dieu (Prix Goncourt 1936), Corps et âmes (Grand Prix de l'Académie française 1943), and La Maison dans la dune. A French Flemish writer, he died of tuberculosis at age 43 after achieving significant literary acclaim.
