James FrielBritish
James Friel is a British novelist and short story writer known for his five novels including Taking the Veil (1989), Left of North (1987), Careless Talk (1993), The Higher Realm (2007), and A Posthumous Affair (2012), as well as numerous radio dramatizations for BBC Radio. His work has been recognized with a Betty Trask Award, Authors' Foundation grant, Arts Council bursaries, and shortlistings for the John Llewellyn Rhys Prize and Welsh Arts Council Novel of the Year; he has also served as Programme Leader for the MA in Writing at Liverpool John Moores University.
