Jean Cau (1925–1993) was a French writer and journalist who served as secretary to Jean-Paul Sartre and later worked as a reporter for L'Express, Figaro, and Paris Match. IMDb. He achieved major literary success with the 1961 Prix Goncourt for his novel The Mercy of God (La pitié de Dieu), his most notable work, and co-wrote the screenplay for the successful film Borsalino.
