About the Author

Giovanni Battista Angioletti (1896-1961) was an Italian writer and journalist born in Milan, whose literary career began after World War I when he abandoned engineering studies for fiction and journalism. He won the first Premio Bagutta in 1928 for Il giorno del giudizio, the Strega Prize in 1949 for La memoria, and the Viareggio Prize in 1960 for I grandi ospiti, while also serving as editor of literary magazines, secretary of the Italian writers' union, and first chairman of the European Community of Writers.Giovanni Battista Angioletti
