Kruger's Alp

Christopher Hope (born February 26, 1944, in Johannesburg, South Africa) is a South African novelist and poet renowned for his satirical works critiquing apartheid, racism, and politics in South Africa, including the banned novel A Separate Development, Whitbread Prize-winning Kruger's Alp, and Booker-shortlisted Serenity House. His memoir White Boy Running earned the CNA Award, and he has received honors like the David Higham Prize, Cholmondeley Award, and Fellowship in the Royal Society of Literature. He lives in France and continues writing as of 2026.
