Christopher John Offutt (born August 24, 1958) is an American author best known for his short story collections and novels depicting life in rural Kentucky Appalachia. He published his debut work Kentucky Straight in 1992, followed by novels like The Good Brother and recent Mick Hardin crime series, as well as memoirs including My Father, the Pornographer. Offutt has received awards from the Guggenheim Foundation, Lannan Foundation, Whiting Award, and American Academy of Arts and Letters, and has written for TV series such as True Blood and Weeds.
