Keeping Mum

Brian Thompson (1935-2022) was a British author, playwright, and documentary filmmaker born in Lambeth, London, who began writing full-time in 1973 after studying English at Cambridge. His most notable works include the acclaimed biographies The Disastrous Mrs. Weldon and Imperial Vanities, the detective novel Ladder of Angels, and memoirs Keeping Mum (winner of the 2006 Costa Biography Award) and Clever Girl.
