Ivan Southall (1921-2008) was an Australian author best known for his pioneering young adult fiction, including notable works like Hills End, Ash Road, To the Wild Sky, Bread and Honey, and Josh. He won multiple Children's Book Council of Australia awards (1966, 1968, 1971, 1976), the Carnegie Medal in 1971 for Josh (the only Australian recipient), and was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in 1981.
