About the Author

Anne de Tourville (1910–2004) was a French novelist whose works evocatively depicted Breton traditions, rural life, and maritime culture, gaining national acclaim with her Prix Femina-winning novel Jabadao (1951), a lyrical portrayal of ancient Breton dances and landscapes. Born in Bais, Ille-et-Vilaine, she spent her childhood in coastal Brittany, later settling in Dinard before returning to her native region, where she continued writing and exhibiting miniature paintings until her death in Vitré.
