About the Author
Hugh RafflesBritish
Hugh Raffles is an English-born anthropologist and writer who grew up in London and moved to New York in the early 1990s. He is the author of prize-winning books including In Amazonia (2002), Insectopedia (2010), and The Book of Unconformities (2020), and has received awards such as the Whiting Writers' Award, Orion Book Award, and a 2023 Literature Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. He teaches anthropology at The New School in New York City, where he directs GIDEST.
