Susan Sontag (1933-2004) was an American writer, critic, and political activist born in New York City to Jewish parents of Lithuanian and Polish descent. (2000). M.A.s from Harvard in philosophy and English, and was active in human rights, directing plays in Sarajevo during its siege.
