Emma Jane Unsworth (born 1979) is a British novelist and screenwriter from Bury, Greater Manchester, known for her novels exploring female friendships, hedonism, and personal crises, including the Betty Trask Award-winning debut Hungry, the Stars and Everything (2011), Animals (2014)—adapted into a Sundance-premiering film for which she won Best Debut Screenwriter at the BIFAs—and the Sunday Times bestseller Adults (2020). She has also written for television, including an episode of The Outlaws (BAFTA-nominated) and served as showrunner for Dreamland (2023), with her fourth novel Slags published in 2025.
