Hugh Garner's Best Stories

Hugh Garner (1913-1979) was a Canadian author renowned for his realistic depictions of working-class life in urban Ontario, particularly in his most famous novel Cabbagetown (1950, expanded 1968), which portrays slum life in Toronto during the Great Depression, along with other works like Storm Below (1949) and The Intruders (1976); he won the Governor General's Award for Fiction in 1963 for his short story collection Hugh Garner's Best Stories.
