About This Book
Inspired by the discovery of dead horses on Navajo land, Skeets traces shifting geographical and cultural landscapes of the Navajo Nation alongside the evolution of language. Jake SkeetsAmerican
Jake Skeets is a Diné poet born for Water's Edge from Vanderwagen, New Mexico. He earned BAs from the University of New Mexico in 2014 and an MFA from the Institute of American Indian Arts in 2018; he teaches at the University of Oklahoma and serves as the third Navajo Nation Poet Laureate. His debut collection Eyes Bottle Dark with a Mouthful of Flowers (2019) won the National Poetry Series, American Book Award, Kate Tufts Discovery Award, and Whiting Award.
