Stanley Middleton (1919–2009) was a British novelist born in Bulwell, Nottinghamshire, England, who taught English at High Pavement Grammar School for many years while publishing over 40 novels. His 1974 novel Holiday won the Booker Prize (shared with Nadine Gordimer), marking a career highlight among works exploring provincial middle-class life, family, and relationships. Educated at University College, Nottingham, he was also an accomplished organist and watercolourist.com
