Ernest Cook Poole (1880–1950) was an American novelist, journalist, and playwright best known for his proletarian fiction and firsthand reportage on revolutionary Russia in 1905 and 1917. His notable works include The Harbor (1915) and His Family (1917), the latter winning the first Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1918. He began as a muckraker exposing urban poverty and child labor, later focusing on social reform themes in his writing.
