Tsunehisa Sakurada (櫻田常久) was a Japanese novelist born on January 20, 1897, in Osaka, Japan. He graduated from Tokyo Imperial University in 1923 with a degree in German literature and later co-founded the magazine Writer's Spirit, winning the prestigious Akutagawa Prize in 1940 (awarded 1941) for his novel Hiraga Gennai. He authored numerous historical novels including Ando Shoeki and Yamabe no Okura, participated in post-war literary and political movements, and died on March 25, 1980.
