Henry Ponsonby: Queen Victoria's Private Secretary

Arthur Augustus William Harry Ponsonby, 1st Baron Ponsonby of Shulbrede (1871–1946) was a British politician, writer, and pacifist best known for his anti-war book Falsehood in War-time (1928), which exposed wartime propaganda lies, and for winning the James Tait Black Memorial Prize in 1942 for Henry Ponsonby, Queen Victoria's Private Secretary: His Life from his Letters. He also authored notable works on diaries such as English Diaries (1923) and served as a Labour MP, Under-Secretary, and Leader of the Opposition in the House of Lords (1931–1935), resigning from the party in 1940 over its war involvement.
