Granny Was a Buffer Girl

Berlie Doherty (born November 6, 1943) is an English author best known for her children's and young adult novels, including the Carnegie Medal winners Granny Was a Buffer Girl (1986) and Dear Nobody (1991), as well as White Peak Farm, Street Child, and Children of Winter. She has also written poetry, plays, screenplays, adult novels, and libretti for children's operas, drawing often from her experiences as a social worker, teacher, and broadcaster.
