Tim O'Brien (born 1946) is an American novelist best known for his works about the Vietnam War, including the memoir If I Die in a Combat Zone, Box Me Up and Ship Me Home (1973) and the story collection The Things They Carried (1990), a classic of war fiction that was a Pulitzer finalist.
