Louis Adamic (1898-1951) was a Slovene-American novelist, journalist, and translator who chronicled immigrant experiences in the United States, most notably in works like The Native's Return (1934), Laughing in the Jungle (1932), and Dynamite (1931). He advocated for ethnic diversity and interracial unity, editing Common Ground magazine from 1940, received the Guggenheim Fellowship in 1932 and the 1941 Anisfield-Wolf Book Award for From Many Lands, and supported Tito's Yugoslavia during WWII.
