Shirley HughesEnglish
Winifred Shirley Hughes (1927–2022) was an English author and illustrator best known for her children's picture books depicting everyday family life, such as the Alfie series and Dogger, which won the Kate Greenaway Medal in 1977. Publishers Weekly. She wrote over 50 books and illustrated more than 200 others, selling millions of copies worldwide, and received honors including an OBE, CBE, and the BookTrust Lifetime Achievement Award.
