Rafael Sánchez FerlosioSpanish
Rafael Sánchez Ferlosio (1927-2019) was a Spanish writer born in Rome to Spanish falangist Rafael Sánchez Mazas and Italian Liliana Ferlosio. He gained fame with his debut novel Industrias y andanzas de Alfanhuí (1951) and especially El Jarama (1955), which won the Nadal Prize and is considered a landmark of post-war Spanish literature for its realist depiction of youth. Later shifting to essays critiquing power, society, and war, he received the Cervantes Prize in 2004 and National Prize for Spanish Letters in 2009. Read more →
