Brenda Navarro is a Mexican writer born in Mexico City and based in Madrid. She is the author of Empty Houses and Eating Ashes. Eating Ashes, translated from the Spanish by Megan McDowell, was a finalist for the 2026 Kirkus Prize for Fiction.
Megan McDowell is an American literary translator from Spanish who has translated Samanta Schweblin, Alejandro Zambra, and Mariana Enríquez, among others. Her translation of Brenda Navarro's Eating Ashes was a finalist for the 2026 Kirkus Prize for Fiction.
