Digby

David Walker (1796–1830) was an American abolitionist and author best known for his radical pamphlet Walker's Appeal, in Four Articles; Together with a Preamble, to the Colored Citizens of the World (1829), which called for Black unity and resistance against slavery and racism, sparking widespread controversy and bounties from Southern states. Born free in Wilmington, North Carolina, to a free Black mother and enslaved father, he moved to Boston, contributed to Freedom's Journal, and became a leading anti-slavery voice, influencing later figures like Frederick Douglass. His work is considered a watershed in Black nationalism and early abolitionist literature, though he received no formal awards.
