Dependence Day

Robert Newman (born July 7, 1964) is an English comedian, author, and political activist who rose to fame in the early 1990s through The Mary Whitehouse Experience and his partnership with David Baddiel, becoming the first comedians to sell out Wembley Arena in 1993. He has authored four novels including Dependence Day (1994), Manners (1998), The Fountain at the Centre of the World (2003)—praised as a potential talisman of the anti-globalization movement—and The Trade Secret (2013), alongside nonfiction works like The Entirely Accurate Encyclopaedia of Evolution (2015).
