About the Author
Jack Gantos is an American children's author born in Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania in 1951. He won the 2012 Newbery Medal for *Dead End in Norvelt*, a darkly comic autobiographical novel set in the fading utopian community of Norvelt, Pennsylvania. He is also known for his *Joey Pigza* series and the *Jack Henry* series.
