William GoldingBritish
Sir William Gerald Golding (1911–1993) was a British novelist, playwright, and poet. Best known for his debut novel Lord of the Flies (1954), he published 12 other volumes of fiction and won the Booker Prize in 1980 for Rites of Passage and the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1983. He was knighted in 1988 for his contributions to literature.
